Happy Boy

Hi fellow bloggers,

Wow I can't believe it is June already. And that means Winter. I am not a fan of winter at all. Especially the early morning walk to take the kids to school...lol....oh well. Hopefully if the first half of the year has flown by, then the rest of it will too and we will be back to glorious summer days. But then I guess we will be complaining about how hot it is....lol...never happy.
Well I know someone who is happy most of the time, and he is the subject of the layout I have just done for the Things with Wings challenge over at Frosted Designs.

Doesn't that smile give you a warm glow. I am not biased at all...lol

We would love for you to join us in this challenge. Hop on over to Frosted Designs to see the sketch and the requirements. And there are always really great prizes to win. See you there.

Thanks for popping by and have a fantastic day.

Flower Tutorial

Hi everyone,

Today I have a tutorial for you to show you how to make some really funky flowers. You can never have too many flowers, right? And to be able to make them yourself is great. You can always have flowers to match what ever it is you are working on.
I shared this tutorial with the gals over at Frosted Designs too.

So here is the finished product, and below are the instructions.

To make this flower you will need the following -
- Card stock
-  2 scallop punches in the sizes you desire. I used a 2 3/8" and a 1 3/4".
-  Stampin' Up!'s Stampin' Mist or water.
- Adhesive foam dots.
- Brad
- Small paintbrush or something similar to wrap your petals around.
- Metallic spritz spray

Step One

Punch out three of the largest scallop circle and one of the smaller scallop circle.

Step Two

Cut every second scallop towards the centre of the circle. Do not cut all the way to the centre. In the second picture here  I have pencilled in where you need to be cutting. Do this for all scalloped circles. This will make your flowers petals.

 Step Three

Take one scallop circle at a time and spray it with the Stampin' Mist. You can use water for this step, but the petals will not be as firm when you are finished.
When you have wet the scallop circle, take each petal and wrap it around the end of your paint brush or similar item. Hold each one for a few seconds.

Step Four

You should end up with your flowers looking like this. If you are impatient like me, then here you can bring in a heat tool and dry them. If you have used Stampin' Mist, the petals should become quit firm. Whilst drying you can curl the petals more like I did, or leave them a little flatter.

Step Five

This one is optional. Spray each of the layers with your metallic spritz spray. Turn one upside down and spray that side, as this will be the bottom layer of your completed flower. Again, bring in the heat tool if you are too impatient to wait.

Step Six

Now it's time to assemble your flower. Start with the upside down petal layer and put a foam dot in the centre. Take another layer, up the right way, off set the petals and stick down. Add another foam dot and place down the last large layer. Add a brad to the middle of the smaller layer and attach using a foam dot.

And there you have it - you have a finished flower. Below are some projects I have made where I have used these flowers.

Thanks for dropping by and I hope I have inspired you to get creating.
Cheers,

Frosted Designs - Punches

Hello everyone,

It is time for another Frosted Designs Challenge.

This is such a versatile challenge. Everyone has at least one punch in their stash. So why not dig it out and enter the challenge. The prizes are way cool.

Here is my design.

I love the way this layout came together. I got inspiration from something I saw on Pinterest and was lucky that it all came together really quickly. Thankyou Mojo for hanging around long enough for me to complete it in an afternoon.

I used punches for the border on the striped paper and the pink cardstock. The flags down the bottom are made from punches. And the butterflies are also punches.

Pop on over to Frosted Designs and check out all the fabulous things  the other designers have come up. And while your there make sure you enter your wonderful creation as well.

Thanks for dropping  by.
Cheers,
Narelle

Frosted Designs - Black, White and One

Hi everyone,

It's time for another Frosted Designs Challenge. Black, White and One. I love this theme. It is so striking, no matter what colour you put with Black and White, it looks amazing.

This time around I kept it simple as I wanted an elegant look. Hope you like it.

I would love to see you have a go at this challenge. It is such a fun one to do. There is a fantastic prize up for grabs from SpiegelMom's Scrap Shop.

Here is another project that I have done previously and meets the criteria of this challenge. Hope you like it.

Hope to be checking out your entry soon.

Bird Cage - it's about time !!!

Hi everyone,

Well I have finally done it !!!  I actually used something that has been sitting around my craft space waiting for "some" day when I would use it. Well today was that "some" day for a chipboard bird cage that I think I have had for at least 2 years...lol .... Now any good crafter knows that you can't rush these things...lol   It had nothing to do with the fact that it looked complicated and took me way out of my comfort zone...lol
I wasn't really inspired by the sample on the instructions so went searching online for some inspiration. I came  across two things. One was a Design Team Call for Case Study, and the other was a gorgeous bird cage decorated by Kelly-Ann. So I decided to use Kelly-Ann's gorgeous work as my inspiration for my entry into the Design Team Call for Case Study. You can see Kelly-Ann's stunning piece here.

Well without further ado, here is what I created. I hope you like it.

Thanks for popping by.
Catch you all later.
Cheers,
